Having been the maintenance electrician for Combe Pafford School for many years we were delighted to be awarded the contract to provide the electrical installation to a brand new 6th form block at Combe Pafford School.
Combe Pafford School is a special needs school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties aged 8 – 19 and due to the increase in pupil numbers they were awarded funding to build a brand new 6th form facility consisting of 3 large classrooms, 2 break out rooms, a common room, office and communal area. The client was specific on their needs and the electrical installation had to reflect the needs of the pupils including the most modern IT requirements including wifi and interactive smart boards, hearing loop, fire alarm interface with the rest of the school, energy efficient internal and external lighting with smart controls and it’s own BMS (Building Management System) system.
Working in an occupied school is always a challenge due to safety and safeguarding requirements. Fortunately all of our electricians are DBS checked and are experienced in occupied buildings and understand the needs of the client when working around the young and potentially vulnerable.
Combe Pafford Schools Facilities Manager Lisa Snell said “I was delighted to find out that Simon Eales had won the competitive tender for Morgan Sindall for this project as they know the school and have worked here for many years. They understand our needs, our children and work with us to achieve what we want rather than what they think we need. The lighting was quite specific as we didn’t want ceiling tiles due to them often getting damaged but we are delighted with the lights which are energy efficient, computer controlled and each one has its own sensor to ensure it is only on when required so there is no risk of lights being left on.”
Morgan Sindalls Site Manager Steve Essam said “Simon was awarded the electrical package on one of our projects that I was the site manager for, not having worked with them before I was slightly apprehensive on what to expect, they proved to be more than capable of keeping up with the programme of works as well as having the materials delivered on time and were able to resource the correct level of operatives when needed, their site foreman was well organised and very capable of carrying out the works of which he did to the high standard expected. I would have no worries about using them again.”
